We are celebrating today the first birthday of our community, the Parish of
St Benedict. I have been gratified by the way we have gone about the process
of beginning to develop a new community by amalgamating four pre-existing
sub-parishes. We have come some way along this journey but there is a lot
further for us to go! I am confident we have started well and will continue
to move in the right direction. One of the reasons that we have begun such
an ambitious building program so early on in the life of the Parish of St
Benedict is the potential it has to focus the various areas of the parish on
a central project. Hopefully this belief of mine will be proved true.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their
cooperation in the many things that we have done in the past year and
encourage you all to continue to generously give of your time and talents as
we continue to go forward. In the next year we hope to begin the development
of various programs that will further develop our sense of community and
also provide opportunities for each of us to grow in holiness.
The various ministries within the parish and the roles of those serving on
the Parish Council are still under development. Being a parish requires that
the scope of the above positions be far broader than any understanding we
may have had when sub-parishes. I am aware this will take time to both fully
understand and implement and thus I appeal to your patience as we seek to
get things right with as few mistakes as possible!
We have launched a youth ministry, Youth Alive which is run under the
auspices of the Missionaries of God’s Love and based in St Benedicts. We
hope to develop marriage preparation courses as well as groups for the newly
married and other basic formation courses derived from the Catholic
Catechism of the Church. The Parish will also begin to look at ways in which
we can initiate and support scholarship and livelihood programs for our
parishioners and beyond. All of this will take time and effort, but I am
sure the resulting fruits will be worth the blood, sweat and tears we put
into it.
In order to accomplish all of the above we need to develop the necessary
infrastructure, meeting rooms and other Parish facilities. Thus we will
construct a three storey building (St Benedicts Mission Center) behind the
present Church, a portion of which will also serve as the residence for the
priests and brothers who will serve the Parish and the ministries flowing
from it. The first floor will consist of an Adoration Chapel (reminding us
that prayer is the center of all that we do in the Parish), baptistery,
offices and small meeting room. The second floor will have a large meeting
room with kitchen and other facilities.
Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Parish Priest!
May God’s blessings always be with us all,
Fr Steven Tynan

Welcome to the website of the Parish of St. Benedict,
Quezon City. In establishing this website, we hope to bring to you the

St. Benedict’s is a young Parish (established August 27, 2006). We are still
developing most of our programs and ministries but we believe that God has a
plan for us in terms of bringing the Gospel to the people of the
Philippines, in the first instance, and later to the world.
If there is any way that you would like to participate in our mission and
ministries please feel free to contact us and we will welcome any
suggestions you might have for the improvement of this website.
Feel free to linger as long as you like in getting to know us and we
